Aluminum forging is a kind of processing method that uses forging machine to exert pressure on aluminium billet to produce plastic deformation to obtain forgings with certain mechanical properties, shape and size. Forging (forging and stamping) is one of the two major components.
By forging, defects such as as as as-cast porosity can be eliminated and micro-structure can be optimized. At the same time, the mechanical properties of forgings are generally better than those of castings of the same material because of the preservation of complete metal streamlines. Vertical or horizontal water-cooled semi-continuous casting method is generally used in foundry. In order to improve the structure and surface quality of vertical casting ingot, electromagnetic crystallization groove, short crystallization groove and hot top casting method have been developed (see solidification of metal). Water-cooled semi-continuous casting is a method of introducing liquid metal into water-cooled crystallizer through a flow channel to form a solidified shell by cooling liquid metal. The crystallizer is pulled out by the base of the casting machine or by the uniform drop of its own weight to form a billet. The process parameters vary greatly with the alloy composition and billet size. Generally, the casting speed and cooling speed should be increased as much as possible to reduce the height of the crystallization groove. The casting temperature is usually 50-110 C higher than the liquidus of the alloy. In addition, the continuous casting and rolling process of aluminium strip has been developed.
